RÉSUMÉ DIGEST
HR 8 2020 First Extraordinary Session Jordan
Existing House Rule authorizes the House Executive Committee to establish an annual
vouchered allotment for members of the House to be drawn by each member in monthly
payments and to be used exclusively for expenses incurred in the course and scope of his
duties as a member of the House, such as rent for office space, electricity, water, gas,
telephone, communication services, stationery, supplies, salary supplements for one or more
legislative assistants, mileage or expense reimbursement for official travel, and other
expenses related to the holding or conduct of office. Provides for the allotment to be set by
the adoption of a resolution of the executive committee in an open public hearing.
Prior House Rule required that the allotment be set by May 1 of the first calendar year of
each term of office.
New House Rule changes the deadline for setting the allotment from May 1 of the first
calendar year of each term to June 15 of the first calendar year of each term. Further
provides that the committee may authorize a member to carry an unexpended allotment
amount into the next fiscal year.
Effective June 15, 2020.
