ACT 4 (HB 21) 2020 First Extraordinary Session Magee
Existing law requires suppliers of mechanical repairs and services for any vehicle subject to
existing law to provide an itemized bill to each consumer.
Existing law allows the supplier to charge a service fee for the use of certain shop supplies
that are not itemized, as long as the fee does not exceed a maximum amount.
New law retains the provision of existing law which allows the supplier to charge the service
fee but increases the maximum amount that can be charged.
Prior law required the service fee to be the lesser of 5% of the total invoice for mechanical
repair or $35.
New law changes prior law to require the service fee be the lesser of 10% of the total invoice
for mechanical repair or $50.
