REVENUE EXPLANATION
This bill does not increase fees to be charged by the Court, however, it will continue the collection of certain
fees that will be deposited in to the Orleans Civil District Court’s Judicial Building Fund.
According to an official with the Orleans Civil District Court, this measure extends the ability of the court to collect certain
fees to be deposited into the Judicial Building Fund from August 2021 to August 2031. The fees are currently being collected
and deposited into a fund to be used in the future for the construction of a building.
According to the 12/31/2018 audit report for the Judicial Court Building Commission, the Civil District Court collected
approximately $1.5 million in fees for 2018 with $10 million in the fund balance.
