Summary of Original Version

Amend KRS 117.035 to move the appointment of members of the county board of elections to the year after the presidential election beginning in 2027; reduce the requirement of the submission of five names to one name by the county executive committees of each political party for appointment to a county board of elections; amend KRS 117.125 and 117.381 to provide that no voting system shall be connected to the Internet; provide transitional language.

Summary Retain original provisions except amend KRS 117.125 and 117.381 to ensure that a voting system or voting machine shall not be capable of establishing a wireless connection, establishing a connection to any external network, including any network with over-the-air interfaces, or connect any software or hardware component of a voting system, voting machine, or voting equipment to any wireless connection; amend KRS 117.125 and 117.381 to ensure that every voting machine or system can produce a paper record with a manual audit capacity to have as an official recount of votes cast; and amend KRS 117.379 and 118.025 to allow for any county or precinct that contains any voting machines or voting systems that are not in compliance with this Act, but are certified by the State Board of Elections to use those machines or systems until they can be replaced by a system in compliance and certified by the State Board of Elections.
