Brief*
HR 6045 would approve an amendment to the gaming
compact between the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska
and the State of Kansas. [Note: The proposed amendments
would create and amend provisions concerning sports
wagering operations on the Tribe’s reservation lands.]

Background
The resolution was introduced by the Joint Committee
on State-Tribal Relations.

Joint Committee on State-Tribal Relations
In the hearing on the resolution, testimony was provided
by representatives of the Office of the Governor and Iowa
Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska. The conferees provided
information about the negotiations and proposed
amendments to the gaming compact between the Iowa Tribe
of Kansas and Nebraska and the State of Kansas and the
impact of recent legislation. [Note: Recent legislation enacted
concerning gaming includes 2023 Senate Sub. for HB 2058
(amending law concerning compact negotiations) and 2022
