SUBJECT: Fiscal Note for HB 2427 by House Committee on Federal and State Affairs
In accordance with KSA 75-3715a, the following fiscal note concerning HB 2427 is
respectfully submitted to your committee.
HB 2427 would require registration as a sex offender for certain violations of the crime of
breach of privacy.
The Office of Judicial Administration states enactment of HB 2427 would have a negligible
fiscal effect on Judicial Branch operations. The Kansas Sentencing Commission states enactment
of the bill could have a fiscal effect on prison beds and admissions; however, the Commission
cannot determine what that effect would be.
The Department of Corrections and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation both state
enactment of the bill would not have a fiscal effect on the operations of either agency. Any fiscal
effect associated with HB 2427 is not reflected in The FY 2022 Governor’s Budget Report.
