Dear Senator Warren:
SUBJECT: Fiscal Note for SB 132 by Senator Pittman
In accordance with KSA 75-3715a, the following fiscal note concerning SB 132 is
respectfully submitted to your committee.
SB 132 would raise the credit received for community service in lieu of a court-imposed
fine from $5 to the statutory minimum wage.
The Office of Judicial Administration states enactment of SB 132 would not have a fiscal
effect on Judicial Branch operations.
The Kansas Sentencing Commission states enactment of the bill could have an effect on
prison admissions and bed space; however, the effect would be negligible. The Department of
Corrections states the bill would have no fiscal effect on Department operations if enacted. Any
fiscal effect associated with SB 132 is not reflected in The FY 2022 Governor’s Budget Report.
The League of Kansas Municipalities and the Kansas Association of Counties both state
enactment of the bill would have a negligible fiscal effect to local governments.

Sincerely,

Adam Proffitt
