SUBJECT: Fiscal Note for HB 2355 by House Committee on Commerce, Labor and
Economic Development
In accordance with KSA 75-3715a, the following fiscal note concerning HB 2355 is
respectfully submitted to your committee.
HB 2355 would amend the definition for federal law enforcement officer to include any
person employed by the United States government who is empowered to effect an arrest with or
without a warrant for violation of the United States code and who is authorized to carry a firearm
in the performance of the person’s official duties as a federal law enforcement officer. Current
law limits the definition to those assigned to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and Kansas Highway Patrol indicate this bill would
have no fiscal effect.
