SUBJECT: Fiscal Note for SB 171 by Senate Committee on Utilities
In accordance with KSA 75-3715a, the following fiscal note concerning SB 171 is
respectfully submitted to your committee.
SB 171 would revise the repayment period for Kansas public water supply loans from 20
years to 40 years to match the America’s Water Infrastructure Act of 2018. The bill would also
set the maximum level of lead allowed in pipes and pipe fittings to 0.25 percent to match the Safe
Drinking Water Act.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment indicates that SB 171 would have no
fiscal effect.
