SUBJECT: Fiscal Note for HB 2240 by Representative Victors
In accordance with KSA 75-3715a, the following fiscal note concerning HB 2240 is
respectfully submitted to your committee.
HB 2240 would amend existing law concerning oil and gas wells to add the definition of a
“class II disposal well,” and prohibit such a well from being located above a known fault line and
from posing a direct risk of induced seismic activity. The bill would also require that the Kansas
Corporation Commission create rules and regulations to ensure that these requirements are carried
out.
According to the Kansas Corporation Commission, enactment of HB 2240 would not result
in additional expenditures or revenues for the agency.
