SUBJECT: Fiscal Note for HB 2175 by House Committee on Commerce, Labor and
Economic Development
In accordance with KSA 75-3715a, the following fiscal note concerning HB 2175 is
respectfully submitted to your committee.
HB 2175 would enact the Fair Share Act. The bill would allow a labor organization to
charge a charitable fee to any employee who elects to not be a member of a labor organization that
is the exclusive bargaining representative of the employee’s bargaining unit. The bill would
determine the percentage amount allowed to be kept by the labor organization and the amount to
be transferred to the charitable organization.
The Kansas Department of Labor indicates that HB 2175 would no fiscal effect on the
agency.
