SUBJECT: Fiscal Note for SB 118 by Senate Committee on Federal and State Affairs
In accordance with KSA 75-3715a, the following fiscal note concerning SB 118 is
respectfully submitted to your committee.
SB 118 would clarify that when there is a closure of a county hospital, the county would
not be responsible for any debts or obligations incurred by the hospital or hospital board.
The Kansas Association of Counties indicates that without the enactment of SB 118,
counties could be responsible for any debt as a result of a county hospital closure. However, the
fiscal effect cannot be estimated.
