Dear Senator Baumgardner:
SUBJECT: Fiscal Note for SB 52 by Senator Hensley, et al.
In accordance with KSA 75-3715a, the following fiscal note concerning SB 52 is
respectfully submitted to your committee.
SB 52 would provide that the statutes regarding teacher “due process” would not apply to
a teacher that has been: (1) convicted of a felony, as outlined by the bill, (2) convicted in another
state or by the federal government of any act similar to those listed by the bill, or (3) entered into
a criminal diversion agreement after having been charged with any offense as listed in the bill.
According to the Department of Education, enactment of the bill would have no fiscal
effect on the agency.
