SENATE RESOLUTION ____
MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
1 A SENATE RESOLUTION honoring John Herron upon his
2 retirement from the Indiana Senate.
3 Whereas, After serving for more than a decade as a Senate
4 Doorkeeper, John Herron retired before the 2020 legislative
5 session;
6 Whereas, John graduated from F.J. Reitz Memorial High
7 School in Evansville, and went on to earn a Bachelors' Degree
8 from the University of Evansville in 1969;
9 Whereas, John also earned a Master of Business
10 Administration degree from Indiana Wesleyan University in
11 1993;
12 Whereas, Prior to his Senate service, John worked for
13 Mead Johnson in Evansville from 1960-1972 as a Systems
14 Analyst;
15 Whereas, John came to Indianapolis in 1972 when he
16 began a 24-year career with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield,
17 becoming Assistant Vice President of IT Management before
18 his retirement in 1996; and

1 Whereas, A resident of Greenwood, John will be deeply
2 missed by Senators, staff, and all who have come to know him
3 through his years of service to the Senate: Therefore,
4 Be it resolved by the Senate of the
5 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
6 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate honors John Herron
7 upon his retirement from the Indiana Senate.
8 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
9 to transmit a copy of this Resolution to John Herron.
