1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring Grede Casting
2 Industry for its 100 years of business.
3 Whereas, Grede Foundries, Inc. was founded in August
4 1920 by Bill Grede in Wisconsin. The company employed 40
5 people and produced a thousand tons of goods in their first
6 year of business;
7 Whereas, Despite the major challenges of the Great
8 Depression, World War II, and the recession in the 1980s,
9 Grede Casting Industry continued to thrive and grow with new
10 locations and business acquisitions;
11 Whereas, Grede Casting Industry has 10 facilities across the
12 United States, with approximately 3,800 employees nationwide.
13 Grede Casting Industry expanded to New Castle, Indiana, in
14 1989;
15 Whereas, Grede Casting Industry produces vital safety
16 devices, agricultural equipment, and automotive products. The
17 quality and precision of these products are crucial to keeping
18 families and individuals safe;
19 Whereas, Grede Casting Industry recycles approximately
20 406,000 tons every year;
21 Whereas, Grede's facility in New Castle has produced
22 approximately 1,495,000 pieces and 95,550,200 shipping
23 pounds to date;
24 Whereas, Grede's facility in New Castle has proudly received

1 numerous awards, including: the Ford Q1 Preferred Supplier,
2 the Liberty Mutual Safety Excellence Award, and the American
3 Foundry Society Safety Award. In 2016 and 2017, Grede
4 Holdings, LLC received the Energy Star Partner of the Year
5 Award for Energy Management, becoming the first large
6 foundry in the United States to receive the honor; and
7 Whereas, Grede Casting Industry of New Castle exemplifies
8 the core values of integrity, product excellence, united and
9 respectful teams, and exceeding the expectations of employees
10 and shareholders while remaining cognizant of the needs of the
11 communities in which they work and serve: Therefore,
12 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives
13 of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
14 the Senate concurring:
15 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly
16 congratulates Grede Casting Industry on 100 years of hard work
17 and excellence.
18 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
19 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to the
20 office of State Representative Thomas Saunders for
21 distribution.
