1 A HOUSE RESOLUTION honoring Bill Eldridge upon his
2 retirement from the Kokomo Perspective.
3 Whereas, Bill Eldridge was born in Brookston, Indiana, in
4 1952. He moved to Kokomo in 1976 and has lived there since;
5 Whereas, He worked in sales from a young age at several
6 radio stations, including WIOU/WKMO, WIOU/WZWZ, and
7 WWKI. He also worked in telecable and owned a convenience
8 store;
9 Whereas, In May of 1993, Bill found his career when he
10 joined the Kokomo Perspective, a local newspaper that was
11 started in 1989, as an owner;
12 Whereas, Bill worked as the business and sales manager for
13 the Kokomo Perspective for the next 30 years, where he built

1 relationships with small business owners to help them grow
2 their companies through advertising with the Kokomo
3 Perspective;
4 Whereas, Bill was heavily involved in his community, which
5 is exemplified through his service on the Kokomo Parks &
6 Recreation Board for 16 years, the Kokomo Planning
7 Commission for 16 years, and the Red Cross Board. He is also
8 recognized for helping start the longstanding Howard County
9 Sports Hall of Fame, Hall of Legends, and the Soapbox Derby;
10 Whereas, Bill Eldridge was presented with the high honor of
11 the Council of the Werowances of the Wildcat Award;
12 Whereas, Bill Eldridge served as the local voice in sports as
13 the play-by-play announcer for Western High School and
14 WWKI broadcast sports;
15 Whereas, Bill's love for recreation shines through his
16 commitment and efforts as a keystone organizer of the annual
17 Liberty Cup Golf Tournament and long-time player at the
18 YMCA noon basketball league;
19 Whereas, Bill contributed to the Perspective's editorial
20 content over the years, and helped to uncover significant stories
21 that are remembered to this day;
22 Whereas, Bill continued to work as the sales manager even
23 after he sold the newspaper company in 2017 to Brian Oaks;
24 and
25 Whereas, Bill Eldridge's commitment to truth, transparency,
26 and accuracy shines through his work in the local news
27 industry: Therefore,
28 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the
29 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
30 SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives
31 recognizes Bill Eldridge's retirement with the positive
32 memories of his many years of dedication in the newspaper
33 industry and his commitment and service to the Greater

1 Kokomo area.
2 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
3 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to the
4 office of State Representative Mike Karickhoff for distribution.
