1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating Silver
2 Creek High School girls basketball team on winning the 2021
3 Indiana High School Athletic Association ("IHSAA") Class 3A
4 championship title.
5 Whereas, The Silver Creek High School girls basketball
6 team captured the 2021 IHSAA Class 3A championship title
7 after defeating South Bend Washington High School;
8 Whereas, The team consists of teammates Kynidi
9 Striverson, Jenna duPont, Hallie Foley, Maddie Hunter, Sydney
10 Sierota, Abby Grimm, Jaclyn Emly, Marissa Gasaway, Alana
11 Striverson, Olivia Johnston, Lacey Tingle, Emme Rooney,
12 Reese Decker, Devonny Wilkerson, and Savannah
13 Kirchgessner;
14 Whereas, To earn their spot in the state championship
15 game, the Lady Dragons defeated the Salem Lady Lions in the
16 sectional championship, the Rushville Lady Lions in the
17 regional championship, and the Tri-West Lady Bruins in the
18 semi-state championship;
19 Whereas, Fighting for the state title, the Silver Creek Lady
20 Dragons faced off against the South Bend Washington Panthers
21 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis;
22 Whereas, Ending the first half with a strong 10-point lead,
23 the Lady Dragons kept up the pressure against the Panthers,
24 finishing the game with a score of 54-48;

1 Whereas, Marissa Gasaway led the Lady Dragons with 18
2 points and 10 rebounds, Alana Striverson contributed 11
3 points, and Kynidi Striverson made 10 points, with 9 rebounds
4 and 7 assists;
5 Whereas, Following the game, Jaclyn Emly was named as
6 the winner of the Patricia L. Roy Mental Attitude Award by the
7 members of the IHSAA Executive Committee to honor her
8 positive mental attitude and commitment to scholarship,
9 leadership, and athletic ability;
10 Whereas, The Silver Creek Lady Dragons, led by coach
11 Scott Schoen, finished the season with a 25-3 record and
12 earned the program's first state championship in school
13 history; and
14 Whereas, The Silver Creek Lady Dragons' hard work, grit,
15 and determination were key to the team's success in winning the
16 state title: Therefore,
17 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly
18 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives
19 concurring:
20 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly
21 congratulates the Silver Creek High School girls basketball
22 team for their first IHSAA Class 3A state championship title.
23 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
24 to transmit copies of this Resolution to each member of the
25 Silver Creek High School girls basketball team.
