RESOLUTION No. ____
1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating Lowell
2 High School junior Karina James for winning the IHSAA Cross
3 Country Championship.
4 Whereas, Karina James is a junior cross country athlete at
5 Lowell High School;
6 Whereas, James competed in and won the IHSAA Cross
7 Country Championship in Terre Haute;
8 Whereas, James completed the 5,000 meter race with a time
9 of 18:00.1, a season record, beating her closest opponent by
10 2.1 seconds;
11 Whereas, Although James had to confront the novel
12 conditions created by the COVID-19 pandemic, she won every
13 race she competed in this year;
14 Whereas, James is the second runner from Lowell to win a
15 state title in two years, with Gabriel Sanchez winning the boys'
16 race in 2019, and she is the first individual female winner from
17 the program; and
18 Whereas, James says she is proud that she was able to win the
19 title for her team and the region as a whole, and she gives all
20 the credit to "the Man upstairs": Therefore,
21 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives
22 of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
23 the Senate concurring:

1 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly
2 congratulates Lowell High School junior Karina James for
3 winning the IHSAA Cross Country Championship with a
4 season record of 18:00.1.
5 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
6 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to
7 Representative Michael Aylesworth for distribution.
