1 A HOUSE RESOLUTION recognizing Jessica Shannon as
2 the first Eagle Scout of Howard County.

4 Whereas, Jessica Shannon was a part of the first group of
5 females in 2019 to join the Boy Scouts of America in Howard
6 County as part of Troop 628 in Greentown;
7 Whereas, Jessica Shannon is part of the first group to ever
8 attain the rank of Eagle Scout to come from Howard County;
9 Whereas, Jessica Shannon and her troopmates set record
10 time in obtaining the required merits in pursuit of the rank of
11 Eagle;
12 Whereas, For her final Eagle Scout project, Jessica and
13 Troop 628 hand built a concession stand for the Eastern High

1 School soccer team, which combined Jessica's love of soccer
2 and scouting;
3 Whereas, The skills and lessons learned in attaining the rank
4 of Eagle Scout provide development in leadership, character,
5 citizenship, and physical fitness;
6 Whereas, The Boy Scouts of America provides diverse
7 programs such as social activities, business networking,
8 mentoring, recognition, event, and community service
9 opportunities to enhance exploration, survival skills, and
10 community involvement;
11 Whereas, The National Eagle Scout Association has
12 provided an outlet for alumni to network, collaborate, and stay
13 in touch to make a positive impact on their communities; and
14 Whereas, The National Eagle Scout Association has initiated
15 more than 50 million Americans since February 8, 1910:
16 Therefore,
17 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the
18 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
19 SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives
20 congratulates and recognizes Jessica Shannon for her
21 extraordinary accomplishment and wishes her continued future
22 success.
23 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
24 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to
25 Representative Michael Karickhoff for distribution.
