SENATE RESOLUTION ____
MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
1 A SENATE RESOLUTION memorializing Pastor Brenda
2 Lee Waldon.
3 Whereas, Pastor Brenda Lee Waldon of Indianapolis
4 passed away on December 19, 2020;
5 Whereas, Born on November 8, 1942 to Beluah J. Wrice,
6 Pastor Waldon attended school in Louisville, Kentucky and
7 Indianapolis, Indiana;
8 Whereas, Pastor Waldon attended Marian University and
9 worked as a nurse at what was then the Marion County
10 General Hospital, as well as other nursing facilities;
11 Whereas, Pastor Waldon married Wendell Robinson, who
12 preceded her in death;
13 Whereas, Pastor Waldon later remarried William Waldon,
14 who also preceded her in death;
15 Whereas, A woman of God, Pastor Waldon was passionate
16 about ministering to her family and friends and went on to
17 receive a bachelor's degree from Aenon Bible College and a

1 master's degree in theology from North Carolina College;
2 Whereas, A dynamic preacher, Pastor Waldon founded
3 Women's God's Covenant Keepers, and served in several
4 Church ministries;
5 Whereas, As the Treasurer of Concerned Clergy, a
6 fellowship of Indianapolis pastors and citizens working to
7 advance civil rights causes, Pastor Waldon worked tirelessly to
8 eliminate injustice, racism, ageism, classism, and sexism to
9 improve the lives of African Americans in Indianapolis;
10 Whereas, A kind and compassionate woman, Pastor
11 Waldon lived out her faith through her actions, leading a life
12 that reflected her favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32;
13 Whereas, Pastor Waldon is survived by her sister Lennie
14 Mae Grundy, her daughters Annette Johnson, Lisa Robinson,
15 and Tina Ingram and her partner Greg, her sons Emanuel
16 Robinson, Wendell Robinson Jr., and Cedric Robinson and his
17 partner Vicky, and her grandchildren Julian, Shawn, JeVon,
18 Arlean, Dean, Thomas, Tyeka, Brianna, Emanuel Jr., Tyrrell,
19 LaShasta, Aanice, her 18 great-grandchildren, and her nieces
20 and nephews, all of whom she loved deeply; and
21 Whereas, A prominent and impactful member of the
22 Indianapolis faith community, a devoted and loving family
23 member, and a faithful Pastor and community member, Pastor
24 Waldon will be greatly missed by all she touched: Therefore,
25 Be it resolved by the Senate of the
26 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
27 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate memorializes Pastor
28 Brenda Lee Waldon.
29 SECTION 2. That the Secretary of the Senate is hereby
30 directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Lennie Mae
