SENATE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION No. 7
1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION urging the Indiana
2 Department of Transportation to rename the section of State
3 Road 930 in Allen County from Parnell Avenue to Crescent
4 Avenue as the "Veterans National Memorial Mile".
5 Whereas, The Indiana Department of Transportation has
6 jurisdiction over highways in the state system, including those
7 located in municipalities;
8 Whereas, Many Allen County residents are veterans and
9 have served in American military operations as far back as
10 World War II;
11 Whereas, The Indiana General Assembly recognizes the
12 great sacrifices made by Hoosier veterans in the service of their
13 state in times of war;
14 Whereas, These veterans served their state and country
15 with honor, and many made the ultimate sacrifice in service of
16 their country;
17 Whereas, Because America has relied upon her veterans in
18 times of war to protect our way of life, it seems only just and
19 proper that America honors the veterans of all her wars; and
20 Whereas, Many states, including Indiana, have designated
21 and named portions of a state or federal highway as a
22 memorial to those who served our nation in times of war:
23 Therefore,

1 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly
2 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives
3 concurring:
4 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly urges the
5 Indiana Department of Transportation to provide the necessary
6 signage to rename the section of State Road 930 in Allen
7 County from Parnell Avenue to Crescent Avenue as the
8 "Veterans National Memorial Mile".
9 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is directed to
10 transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Commissioner of the
11 Indiana Department of Transportation.

COMMITTEE REPORT
Madam President: The Senate Committee on Homeland Security
and Transportation, to which was referred Senate Concurrent
Resolution No. 7, has had the same under consideration and begs leave
to report the same back to the Senate with the recommendation that
