SENATE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION No. 3
1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION directing the Congress of
2 the United States to propose to the several states an amendment
3 to the United States Constitution concerning the membership of
4 the United States Supreme Court.
5 Whereas, Several Joint Resolutions have been proposed in the
6 116th Congress to amend the United States Constitution to
7 provide that the United States Supreme Court consist of not
8 more than nine (9) members;
9 Whereas, The Indiana General Assembly agrees with the
10 intent of these Joint Resolutions; and
11 Whereas, The Indiana General Assembly supports the
12 adoption and submission of such an amendment to the several
13 states for ratification: Therefore,
14 Be it resolved by the Senate
15 of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
16 the House of Representatives concurring:
17 SECTION 1. That the Congress of the United States is
18 directed to propose to the states the following amendment to the
19 United States Constitution:
20 "The Supreme Court of the United States shall be
21 composed of nine Justices."
22 SECTION 2. That certified copies of this resolution be sent
23 to each of the following:
24 (1) The presiding officers of the Congress of the United
25 States.
26 (2) The Secretary of the Senate.

1 (3) The Clerk of the United States House of
2 Representatives.
3 (4) The presiding officer of each chamber of each state
4 legislature in the United States.
5 (5) The members of the Congress of the United States from
6 the State of Indiana.

Madam President: Pursuant to Senate Rule 68(b), I hereby report
that Senate Concurrent Resolution 3, currently assigned to the
Committee on Rules and Legislative Procedure, be reassigned to the
Committee on Judiciary.

Madam President: The Senate Committee on Judiciary, to which
was referred Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 3, has had the same
under consideration and begs leave to report the same back to the
