Summary of Legislation: The bill allows state employees and state officers to possess and carry a handgun
on the Indiana government center campus. The bill defines certain terms. The bill makes conforming
amendments. The bill makes technical corrections.
Effective Date: July 1, 2021.
Explanation of State Expenditures: State government agencies may need to adjust personnel rules in order
to accommodate the changes in the proposed bill. It is likely those agencies would be able to adjust rules with
existing personnel and resources.
