Summary of Legislation: This bill adds a provision that provides that the requirements of the Student and
Parent Support Services Grant Program do not prevent a school corporation, charter school, or state
accredited nonpublic school from providing school based treatment services or treatment services provided
by an outside provider to address the comprehensive needs and well-being of a student.
Effective Date: July 1, 2021.

Explanation of Local Expenditures: The fiscal impact will depend on local action. Currently, certain
services for at-risk students can be funded by a grant from the Indiana Secured School Fund under the
Student and Parent Support Services Grant Program.
Under this bill, a school corporation or charter school can provide additional services to address the needs
and well-being of students. The school corporation or charter school would have to find an alternative source
of funding for these additional services.
