Summary of Legislation: This bill establishes the General Assembly and Governor's Office Memorial
Plaque Programs. It provides that the Clerk of the House of Representatives and the Secretary of the Senate
shall create a memorial plaque. The bill also provides that the family of a deceased member of the General
Assembly may purchase a memorial plaque denoting the member's service. It provides that the Governor's
Office shall create a memorial plaque denoting the service of deceased Governors of Indiana. The bill makes
an appropriation.
Effective Date: July 1, 2021.
Explanation of State Expenditures: The bill appropriates $7,500 to the General Assembly and $7,500 to
the Governor’s Office during the FY 2022-FY 2023 biennium. The funds are to be used to establish and
design the General Assembly and Governor's Office Memorial Plaque Programs. The bill will impact
workload for these offices to establish and design the plaques. The bill also requires the Governor’s Office
to purchase plaques for each former Governor’s grave site.
