REVISED
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS31321 / S1365
This legislation amends Chapter 2, Title 49, Idaho Code, by adding a new section, 49-245, to create a
Next-of-Kin Database within Idaho Transportation Department’s (ITD) Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
This will give DMV the ability to collect the necessary information for coroners and other law enforcement
to notify a relative or friend in the case of injury, death, or other emergencies. The information is voluntary
for the drivers’ license owner. The legislation also defines next-of-kin.
FISCAL NOTE
The implementation cost has been estimated to be approximately $24,000.
