STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS30247 / S1096
Directing the Department of Health and Welfare, Division of Public Health, Alzheimer’s Disease and Related
Dementias Program, to convene the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) Alliance every five
years, to update the ADRD Strategic Plan for Idaho, and report to the Legislature and Governor on gaps, needs,
and progress.
In August of 2021, the ADRD Steering Committee was convened with the task of providing direction for the
establishment of the ADRD Alliance and writing of the Idaho State Alzheimer’s Plan. The ADRD Alliance
worked for over a year on a final updated Idaho State Alzheimer’s Plan which is slated to be released during
2023.
Updating the State Plan every five years will assure that our State is continuing to improve awareness, reduce
stigma and expand services for individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias and their
caregivers.
Effectively implementing an updated State Plan on Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias will reduce the
long-term impact of the disease on state budgets, improve care and services for people living with Alzheimer’s
and related dementias, and their caregivers.
FISCAL NOTE
The cost associated with the development of the 2023 State Plan was approximately $50,000. The future costs
associated with updating the State Plan may change over time. Funding sources for this work may be a mix of
general and federal funds that are available at the time of the plan update.
