STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS30077 / S1053
This bill would remove an exemption from 49-613 regarding the requirement for trucks to cover loads.
Currently trucks engaged in maintenance or construction on highways are exempt from the law.
FISCAL NOTE
There is no fiscal impact to the general fund or local governments.The Idaho Transportation Department
estimates a total operational cost of $850,000 to $1,275,000 to add tarps to maintenance vehicles that currently
do not have a tarp system. There is no anticipated impact to the general fund or to other state or local funds,
because there is no requirement placed on state and local entities, only contractors..
