STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS30003C3 / S1025
This legislation amends Idaho's law regarding marriage licensing. Currently, record of a marriage is the
marriage license and return certificate filed by the county recorder. This legislation eliminates the requirement
for, and replaces it with, the recording of a marriage certificate with the county recorder.
FISCAL NOTE
There is no fiscal impact to the general fund or local governments because all of the state and local fees
associated with marriage licenses are still collected under this legislation, and those fees are directed to the same
funds as the current marriage license fees. The dedicated domestic violence project account also continues to
receive the same level of funding under this legislation.
