STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS29706 / H0738
This legislation provides that elections of community college trustees in a community college district with
a population greater than 250,000 be by a vote of electors within each respective zone rather than at large;
provides guidance to redrawing zone lines for the convenience of county clerks; and, clarifies the State Board
of Education's role in filling vacancies under certain circumstances.
FISCAL NOTE
This legislation has no impact to the General Fund. All administrative functions undertaken by community
colleges and county clerks for trustee elections would continue, this legislation merely changes the methodology
used. Therefore, this legislation has no impact on the budgets of community colleges or counties, either.
