STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS29574 / S1334
This bill allows Idaho Correctional Industries, under the supervision of the Board of Correction, to create an
additional inmate training program for call center work and training. Numerous other correctional systems
have similar successful programs.
FISCAL NOTE
There will be no cost to the state to add this training program. Any cost will be absorbed by ICI which does
not receive an appropriation from the state. If, as anticipated, this bill results in more inmates earning stipends
because of increased opportunities to work and train, there will be a positive anticipated fiscal impact to the state
and local governments because a portion of the inmate stipend may be directed to offset costs of incarceration,
reentry savings, and payment of court ordered fines, fees, and restitution.
