STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS28684 / H0335
Candidate names for federal, state, county, and city offices are rotated on election ballots. For all other offices
candidate names appear on the ballot in a random, but fixed order. The purpose of this legislation is to rotate
candidate names on ballots in other races where the number of registered voters within a political entity exceeds
100,000.
FISCAL NOTE
There is no anticipated impact to the general fund or other state funds. Given that candidate name rotation is the
standard practice for almost all races across the state and that most races would be unaffected by the legislation,
it is anticipated that the cost to local government for implementation would be negligible.
