STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS28085 / H0128
As of January 1, 2021, the federal odometer law that exempts mileage disclosure on a vehicle due to its age
changed from ten years to twenty.
This proposal modifies the duplicate title and transfer process in Idaho Code to align with federal odometer
law changes by removing the ten (10)-year exemption reference and accounting for the twenty-year mileage
exemption, beginning with the 2011 model year.
FISCAL NOTE
There is no fiscal impact because the legislation does not affect any fees. The legislation only adds an odometer
reporting step to a small amount of title transactions.
