STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS28364 / S1067
This legislation makes numerous technical corrections to Idaho’s election laws, including correcting an
oversight by which school discontinuance elections, which are extremely rare, were left outside of elections
consolidation. It also makes the county clerk the recipient of all but state recall petitions, eliminating the role
of the city clerk.
FISCAL NOTE
In the rare event that a school discontinuance election is held, the cost of conducting the election would be borne
by the county, rather than the school district. However, counties already receive state election consolidation
funds each year to run elections for school districts, among others, and so any such costs have already been
provided for.
