STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS28408 / S1068
The purpose of this legislation is to establish some uniformity to the legislative session and process. By
identifying a “not to exceed” sine die date, it will help the Legislature to be more deliberate and timelier in
doing the people’s business. Exceptions to address a gubernatorial veto or unforeseen anomaly are provided
for. In addition, with the 2/3 passage of a concurrent resolution by both the Senate and House the session can
also be extended.
FISCAL NOTE
There will be a likelihood of savings as future sessions will have a “do not exceed” date. Those potential savings
will vary from session-to-session and is impossible to quantify.
