STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

This legislation updates a criminal statute to reflect today's electronic communication technology. This proposal
amends Idaho Code to provide that threats against state officials of the executive, legislative, or judicial branch
or elected officials of a county or city, includes threats transmitted electronically. The legislation defines the
term "transmit electronically" to include any device that provides transmission of messages, signals, facsimiles,
video or photographic images, voice recordings or other communication between persons.
FISCAL NOTE
There is likely to be no, or at most, minimal impact to the General Fund.
