STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS27670 / S1339
Currently, clerks do not have a seat on the magistrate commission. This legislation adds one clerk to the
magistrate commission from that judicial district. To avoid potential conflicts the clerk member's seat will
be temporarily vacated if there is an applicant applying for a magistrate judge position in the clerk member's
county. The clerk member's seat will also be temporarily vacated for any removal process of a magistrate judge
in that judicial district.
FISCAL NOTE
There will be no significant fiscal impact to the general fund or any other entity because these meetings typically
occur during the work day for the clerk. There may be additional deminimus fuel and mileage costs to travel
to the meeting.
