STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The introduction of facial recognition technology in both the public and private sector creates opportunities
to improve security and enhance public safety. However, this technology also carries potential risks for
privacy and civil liberties. Through this legislation, proposed safeguards will be implemented to balance the
opportunities and the risks.
FISCAL NOTE
Enforcement through the Attorney General's Office will require the support of an additional deputy attorney
general and paralegal at a cost of $239,100 to the General Fund.
