STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS27705 / H0493
This bill reduces the archery permit fee and the muzzleloader permit fee for Disabled American Veterans in
alignment with the current hunting license discounted fee for Disabled American Veterans.
• Current Archery permit fee is $17.75/year or the price-locked cost of $16.50
• Current Muzzleloader permit fee is $17.75/year or the price-locked cost of $16.50
• The proposal lowers this fee for resident Disabled American Veterans to $2 for both the archery permit and
muzzleloader permit and to $4 for non-resident Disabled American Veterans.
• As it stands currently, it costs more for a Disabled American Veteran to purchase one of these permits than it
does for their hunting license or their combination hunting/fishing license.
FISCAL NOTE
There is no impact to the general fund. It is anticipated that this legislation will minimally reduce Idaho Fish
& Game dedicated funds. If Archery and Muzzleloader Permit sales remain similar to 2019 sales levels, the
projected revenue impact would be approximately $18,000 (rounded). The cost differential for resident sales
would equal $10,949.25. The cost differential for nonresidents would equal $7,366.00. Combined, the cost
differential (revenue loss) would be about $18,000.
