STATEMENT OF PURPOSE The proposed legislation would allow local jurisdictions to determine whether
rezone and annexation applications should go thru a recommendation hearing with a planning and zoning
commission or to advance straight to the governing body for a final decision. This legislation is meant to
streamline this process and eliminate confusion for those property owners affected by these requests.
FISCAL NOTE
There is no fiscal impact for the proposed legislation. Local jurisdictions that implement the change will see a
small cost savings as this bill will eliminate the need for unnecessary hearings, mailings, and notifications in
the newspaper.
