STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The purpose of this legislation is to amend Idaho Code § 43-732 to change the acreage requirements for service
charges by irrigation districts against small tracts of land within district boundaries. Section 43-732 allows
separate service charges to be assessed against small tracts of land where the operation, construction, and
maintenance costs are greater than other lands within the district. The section allows districts to divide small
tracts into one of two acres groupings. This legislation amends the acreage groupings to parcels that are one
(1) acre or less or those parcels between one (1) acre and ten (10) acres.
FISCAL NOTE
The changes to Section 43-732 address assessments by irrigation districts to water users with small tracts of
land within those districts, and will cause no fiscal impact to state or local governments.
