STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS27545 / H0392
To encourage health care providers to volunteer their services at free medical clinics and community health
screening events, the Legislature enacted a statute limiting liability for volunteering physicians. This bill
would extend that limited liability protection to other health care professionals and supervised students, where
recipients are notified if the provider is a student, with signed releases acknowledging the limited liability.
FISCAL NOTE
This bill will have no fiscal impact on the general fund because volunteering health care services requires no
government funding.
