STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS27481 / S1270
Currently cities are the only local taxing authority that hold an election if all seats are uncontested. This
legislation eliminates the requirement to hold an election if only one person files a declaration of candidacy
or if there is only a write-in declaration for each office in a city election.
FISCAL NOTE
There is no fiscal impact to the general fund. There could be a slight savings to counties.
