STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS27226 / S1260
Consistent with the Governor's Licensing Freedom Act, this bill seeks to eliminate barriers to licensure.
Specifically, the Idaho Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Board is proposing a rule to allow
an HVAC apprentice to renew registration and continue working as an apprentice by showing completion
of eight (8) hours of continuing education for each year of the prior registration period instead of showing
enrollment in or successful completion of schooling. This legislation changes the apprentice registration
period from five (5) years to one (1) year and the fee from fifty dollars ($50) to ten dollars ($10). Changing
the registration period from five (5) years to one (1) year will make tracking continuing education easier for
the apprentice and the Division of Building Safety.
FISCAL NOTE
This legislation will not have a fiscal impact on any general or federal funds or the HVAC board dedicated fund
because the registration fee per year will not change.
