STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS27210 / S1255
This legislation authorizes the administrator of the Division of Veterans Services to request the State Controller
to make a transfer or transfers from the Idaho Veterans Recognition Fund to the Idaho Veterans Recognition
Income Fund for the purpose of providing matching grant funds for new construction, replacement, remodel,
and life safety projects for the Idaho State Veterans Homes, State Veterans Cemeteries, and other available
veterans services federal grant opportunities. This also repeals conflicting language in Section 65-704(5), Idaho
Code. Additionally, this legislation allows for fiscal year end revenue in excess of the first six months of the
new fiscal year operation costs to be swept into the Veterans Recognition Fund to be used for matching funds.
FISCAL NOTE
There is no fiscal impact at this time. This change has the potential to bring in more federal funds to the state
of Idaho through matching fund grant opportunities.
