STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS27413 / S1247
The purpose of this legislation is to designate Chronic Depredation Zones and Wolf Free Zones based on big
game hunting units designated by the Idaho Fish and Game Commission. In units so designated, wolves may
be taken year-round by any hunter with a valid hunting license and a wolf tag.
The legislation also has "trigger" language of 20 packs of wolves (200 wolves), which serves as a buffer for the
15 packs that is currently contained in the Idaho Wolf Management Plan.
FISCAL NOTE
There is no negative fiscal impact to the General Fund as all Idaho Fish and Game funds are dedicated funds.
Possible positive impacts to the Idaho Fish and Game funds could exist as there may be a slight increase due
to increased hunting license and wolf tag sales.
