STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS27237 / S1232
This bill will establish a mandatory reentry savings account for all individuals incarcerated in an Idaho
Department of Correction (IDOC) facility. The savings will be provided to the individual, upon release from
IDOC, to help aid in the transition to the community.
FISCAL NOTE
Enactment of this legislation would have no direct fiscal impact on the General Fund. This legislation, aimed
at helping those incarcerated better provide for their own transition to the community, would supplement
an estimated $150,000 in state-supported transitional funds with reentry savings. Currently, the need for
transitional housing exceeds the allocated funding.
