REVISED REVISED REVISED REVISED REVISED REVISED REVISED
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS26789C1
This legislation provides Advanced Opportunities funding for Career Technical Education Workforce
Training. This will open up more opportunities for high school students to take Career Technical courses
that lead to industry certifications if these courses are not offered in their high school. An example of this
is providing more opportunities for students to participate in industry apprenticeships while in high school.
FISCAL NOTE
If this bill had been in place in the 2018-19 school year, it is estimated the (6) Technical Colleges would
have had 480 high school age students qualify. The cost would have been $154,200 using the criteria of this
bill. Figuring a 20% increase in year one if this bill is passed, the estimated fiscal cost for 2019-20 would
be $185,040. The funding is from the general fund through the Advanced Opportunities. It is hoped that
this bill will be a major factor resulting in many more students using Advanced Opportunities for career
technical education workforce training courses in the next few years.
