HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 108

1 A Resolution to recognize Iowa Small Business
2 Development Centers and honor the 2024 special
3 entrepreneur award winners.
4 WHEREAS, since 1981, Iowa Small Business Development
5 Centers have provided expert and confidential
6 business counseling services and training workshops to
7 entrepreneurs in all 99 counties; and
8 WHEREAS, these small business development centers
9 located throughout the state provide a wide variety
10 of services to foster the growth of Iowa businesses,
11 including one-to-one professional business counseling,
12 learning opportunities, workshops, courses, and
13 classes, and a variety of other services; and
14 WHEREAS, Melissa Fabian of Mason City, Iowa, the
15 chief executive officer and owner of Simply Nourished
16 Market & Mercantile, is the 2024 Deb Dalziel Women
17 Entrepreneur Achievement Award winner, an award which
18 honors an Iowa woman entrepreneur who has significantly
19 changed or improved her life and the lives of
20 others; and
21 WHEREAS, Dustin Rhoades of Sioux City, Iowa, the
22 chief executive officer and owner of Ability Tech,
23 has received the 2024 Neal Smith Entrepreneur of the
24 Year Award, an award in honor of the long-serving
25 Iowa congressman, given to an Iowa entrepreneur who
26 has been in business a minimum of three years and has
27 been significantly assisted by Iowa Small Business
28 Development Centers; NOW THEREFORE,

1 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
2 That the House of Representatives honors award winners
3 Melissa Fabian and Dustin Rhoades, congratulates them
4 on their success, and recognizes and expresses its
5 thanks to Iowa Small Business Development Centers for
6 their ongoing work in making Iowa a better place to
7 live and work.
