AN ACT
RELATING TO THE INCLUSION OF THE CRISIS HOTLINE TELEPHONE
AND TEXT NUMBERS AND INTERNET ADDRESS FOR THE YOUR LIFE
IOWA PROGRAM OR SUCCESSOR PROGRAM ON PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENT
IDENTIFICATION CARDS AND INCLUDING APPLICABILITY PROVISIONS.
6 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 279.77 Student identification cards
2 —— suicide prevention information.
3 A public school that issues identification cards to students
4 in grades seven through twelve shall include on either side
5 of the identification card the crisis hotline telephone and
6 text numbers and the internet address for your life Iowa or the
7 your life Iowa successor program. A public school that issues
8 identification cards to students in grades five and six may
9 include on either side of the identification card the crisis
10 hotline telephone and text numbers and the internet address for
11 your life Iowa or the your life Iowa successor program.

12 Sec. 2. APPLICABILITY. This Act applies to student
13 identification cards issued on or after the effective date
14 of this Act. A school that has a supply of unused student
15 identification cards may use that supply prior to complying
16 with the requirements of this Act relating to student
17 identification cards.
